Express Yourself Beautifully

The Minimalist

What is this you ask? Well Minimal makeup is just as it is described, being very minimal in what you use to enhance your features and avoiding a heavy caked on look. There are no heavy foundations or concealers and you don't have to apply a full face of makeup, just use the bare essentials. Whilst in lockdown I'm sure most of you went with nothing or very little makeup, right? Well, this trend is now here to stay. We have decided to not spend hours in front of the mirror perfecting the latest makeup look ( its ok for glam nights out or that special occasion) but for everyday, we have just fast tracked our makeup looks and that is going to be the new trend moving forward. Let's take a look at that now.

Start off with a good base

Making sure your skin is clean and healthy is most important. Daily cleansing and moisturising routines will ensure your skin is clean, fresh and have a healthy glow.

Some great natural products to use are from the Skinfood range which is certified natural and some organic. Reasonably priced and easy to use, you will love using these products to get that nice healthy skin.

The "no Foundation" foundation base

As we said, heavy makeup is out and minimal is in. So a good foundation base can be either using a BB cream or tinted moisturiser and mineral makeup. Whatever you choose just apply a small amount to create the flawless look, covering any little imperfections. During the warmer months, the less amount of makeup looks more natural. A great mineral foundation that is lightweight and easy to apply is the Esmi mineral foundation, this is vegan, cruelty free and even has SPF which is great for protecting your skin from the harsh sun.

Bronze Me up baby

A good bronzer can be used, not just on the cheeks but on the eyelids, neck, shoulders and chest areas. It can be used as contouring around the hairline, jawline and temples too. Getting a good bronzer has many uses and can be handy to keep in your handbag for a touch up during the day.

Its all in the Brows

Eyebrows are the frame to your face, first using a brow brush comb them in place, make sure you have tidied up (plucked) any regrowth and individual hairs that are sneaking though. Creating a soft natural (shaped) brow is a must in the minimalist look. No painted brows here, just a nice soft feathery brow, using our Poni Mane Stain Brow cream it creates a natural soft look, plus its waterproof and adds volume which will last all day! Even at the beach.

Natural long lashes

When it comes to lashes, you want length and volume but you definitely don't want the spidery gluggy effect. Lashes should look more natural in the minimalist look and so finding the right mascara is key. Avoid a waterproof one as these have more chemicals that is harmful to the eyes but also it is incredibly hard to take off at the end of the day. You should avoid pulling and dragging on your eyelids anyway as this is where we get hooded eyes from (yes the elasticity in the skin goes quickly from your eye area and gravity takes hold!). A good water resistant mascara is White Knight, this mascara is a must as you will never get the Panda eye affect or have smudged dark eyes again.

Glossy lips

So here is where we can have a little fun! Lips do not need to be bare, you can add gloss, a splash of lip colour, shimmer or matte, shiny or nude. Whatever it is, ensure its right for the occasion, for example a bright red lip is not for wearing to the beach, you might be best with a gloss or a nude matte. Sometimes a tinted lip balm may be just enough. Also remember to keep your lips hydrated, day and night - a dry cracked lip is not so appealing!

Whatever you choose in your minimalist look, just remember to KISS (Keep It Simple Stu#id)
